Charu Majumdar, founder, Naxalbari Movement
Charu Majumdar (1918–1972) was a communist revolutionary from India. He was born in 1918 at Siliguri, West Bengal. In 1946, he joined the Tebhaga movement. He was briefly imprisoned in 1962.He wanted to create a new national homeland Communist Republic of Bangala Rastra.
During the mid 1960s Majumdar organized a leftist faction in Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) in northern Bengal. In 1967, a militant peasant uprising took place in Naxalbari, led by the Majumdar group. This group would later become known as the Naxalites, and eight articles written by him at this time - known as theHistoric Eight Documents - has been seen as providing their ideological foundation: arguing that revolution must take the path of armed struggle on the pattern of the Chinese revolution. The same year, Majumdar broke away and formed the All India Coordination Committee of Communist Revolutionaries which in 1969 founded theCommunist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist)—with Majumdar as its General Secretary.
He was captured from his hide-out on July 16, 1972, and Killed by police in police custody at the Laal Bazar police St. on July 28, 1972.

Anandamoy Bhattacharjee, former Chief Justice of Kolkata, Mumbai & Sikkim High Court
He was born on 20th December, 1933 and was educated at Siliguri Boys School, Siliguri, St. Paul's College, Calcutta, Scottish Church College, Calcutta and University College of Law, Calcutta. He enrolled as an Advocate of the Calcutta High Court (A.S.). on 7th January 1957 and as an Advocate of the Calcutta High Court (O.S.) on 16th January 1957. He practised on Civil and Criminal in the District Courts of Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and at Gangtok in Sikkim and also worked as Legal Adviser to Government of Sikkim from May 1972 and as the Advocate General of Sikkim from June 1975. He was the Chairman, Law Commission of Sikkim. He was appointed as Judge, Sikkim High Court from 16th June, 1976 and then was appointed as Acting Chief Justice, Sikkim High Court from 4th January 1985. He was transferred as Judge, Calcutta High Court from 3rd February 1986 and was the Acting Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court from 15th June 1992. He was made the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court from 25th January 1993 and was transferred as the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court on 21st April,1994 . Was in Office till 1-4-1995.
Anup Deb, former Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court
Born on 2.1.1943. Enrolled as an Advocate with Bar Council of West Bengal on 28.11.1972 and designated as Senior Advocate by Calcutta High Court on 5.5.1983. Practiced in Civil, Criminal, Constitutional, Taxation and service matters in Sikkim and Calcutta High Courts. Also practiced in the Central Administrative Tribunal and the Supreme Court of India. Appointed as permanent Judge of the Sikkim High Court from 16.12.1994. Transferred to Gauhati High Court on 9.2.1995. Again Transferred to Orissa High Court from 2.4.1996. Transferred to Sikkim High Court and appointed as Acting Chief Justice on 27.12.1997. Passed away on 12 March 2002.
